RSR has an image problem across crypto, with an ever-swelling supply getting in the way of discussing and growing DTFs and RTokens. It similarly makes it hard for evangelists to join the ecosystem as the value proposition of RSR is not there.
There are many thoughts on how to solve the problem, from burning up to 30 billion RSR, to moving to a veRSR system, to future unlocks being based on performance.
Right now, RSR is unlocked in a curve that follows the historic BTC emissions curve. However, while it may work as a metaphor, there is a feeling that what worked for BTC is not necessarily applicable to RSR, not least because demand for BTC has historically exceeded supply.
